They were shot and seen in color, but I do feel monochrome is sometimes superior. It's something I've been torn about for years. I haven't yet come up with a simple answer. State Fair is a lot about color for me. However, I readily see advantages to the monochrome in several of them. A mixed portfolio of B&W and color looked odd. I didn't have the time to keep thinking about it, so making both was easier;^) I liked both, so why not have both is it's possible?
