Better lens, IME. The A640 also has an articulated viewing screen, which I like for waist level and over the head shots. The G7 does not. No point and shoot camera has a good ISO 1600, or 800 IME, with the exception (I hear) of one of the Fuji models. 400 is as far as I go with PS cameras. YMMV. Will von Dauster
