IME auto wb is not as good as a custom WB or setting the WB to the proper setting to begin with. The best thing I got is the Expo Disk to set custom WB, I added a 1/4 plus blue into the expo disk and this gives a slightly warm color balance, very much like using an 81A filter when shooting chrome., which is what I pretty much left on my lenses as I like some warmth in my images.
