Well, no.

It is a combination of minimal depth of field (2.8 at 70mm), autofocus 
not exactly hitting the right spot, and I'm not as steady at 1/50 with 
this (comparatively) large lens as I used to be.

The autofocus pretty much nailed a cabinet door that has been cropped out.

(btw, the camera was a 5D, not a 1DMk2.)

But to be truthful I'm not sure if it would look better if it was a 
whole lot sharper. To me the softness helps convey the spontaneity of 
the moment.
