  War, yes, but also hunting. There is an interesting theory that brain 
development in chimps (and humans) may have been accelerated by the 
acquisition of protein, from the cooperative hunting done by groups of 
chimps. It was that communication and cooperation that allowed humans to 
develop and got us where we are today, arguing about bokeh and magenta 
casts.
