Philippe, I'm not sure what you're looking for. She has a wireless  
card in her laptop. It is communicating wirelessly to the Linksys  
router which is wired to a cable modem. The original problem was it  
was perceived that a 2nd laptop connected to the router via ethernet  
cable was keeping the wireless network active and removing it or  
powering it down would stop the wireless network from working. I  
believe what Tina did was remove the connection between the old  
laptop and the router and the wireless laptop continued to work. By  
unconnected to anything she means unconnected to the old, wired laptop.
