A very nice shot; simple yet revealing.

This one, IMHO, deserves the "Magic Photoshop Instant Bokeh"  
treatment: select the face (with several pixels of feathering) invert  
the selection (thereby selecting the background only) and apply  
Gaussian blur to taste.

In fact, if you do decide to try this I'd like to see a re-post of  
the 2nd version....
