Well Mark, it all depends on what you shoot. If you like low light and 
night photography, then you still want fast lenses. I routinely find 
myself using the 1.4/35mm at full aperture, at ISO 1600. Under such 
light conditions, an f4 lens would be way too slow. The slowest Canon 
lens I have is f2.8.
