ones before. At present mine is a Canon Elph 800is, which has a lens
that goes down to 28mm equivalent, image stabilization, reasonably
low noise, is easily pocketable and has an optical viewfinder - small
but present. My focus in getting this camera, and the cameras it
replaced, was on shooting construction sites both inside and out, and
nothing on the market is better at this point for this type of
shooting.
My wife and daughter have Fuji F10 and F20. They take pictures of
little kids in the house, so these cameras are perfect for them. The
high ISO performance of these cameras is much better than that of any
other P&S's.
No camera is without compromises, so you have prioritize and get the
camera that meets your main objectives.
The Canon has less than stellar image quality in the corners at 28mm,
but even though various Panasonic models have better image quality at
28mm, they fall down in areas that are more important or essential to
me.
The Fujis do not have as good image quality outdoors in bright
sunlight as the Canon, but they do way better in low light, which is
more important to my wife and daughter.
