Actually Ian Carmichael (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Carmichael ) lives there, it's also where Arthur Brown (Crazy World of Arthur Brown - greatest hit "Fire") comes from too, Captain Cook was an apprentice there, his ships Endeavour et al where built there, the story of Dracula begins there (we always take a self-catering holiday apartment at the top of the house where Bram Stoker lived) and Lewis Carrol (Alice in Wonderland) often stayed there too. It was also sometimes home to the "Railway King" George Hudson before (and some time after) he had been run out of the country and fled to France.
