Guadalest is a village of about 200 people about 70 km northeast of Alicante, nestled among mountains, next to a river. The main attraction is a Moorish castle constructed on top of some incredibly steep rocks--an amazing feat of medieval engineering. The inhabitants of Guadalest make their living from the many tourists who come to see the castle, and there is a distinct whiff of crass exploitation. But the place is truly interesting, and getting there is a big part of the fun. I drove there on Sunday: http://www.frozenlight.eu/guadalest/ As always, comments and critique are very welcome.
