I would have enjoyed them anyway , sharing your interest there. However , you have made some beautiful photographs well above just high quality records. The pitot shot is smooth and elegant, the SBD dive brakes is a fine work, I love the simplicity and lines there. Very enjoyable stuff Cheers Geoff -----Original Message----- Subject: [Leica] IMG: Ira's PAW 46: Mustangs and other winged things Last weeks PAW (I always seem to be a week or two behind) was taken at The Air Museum in Chino, CA. The PAW is a P-51D Mustang taxiing for takeoff. That long nose makes it a challenge for the pilot to see where he's going: _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/2007+PAW/2007+PAW+46.jpg.html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/2007+PAW/2007+PAW+46.jpg.html) (Canon 30D, 17-40 f/4L, ISO 100, 1/25 @f/22 to grab the prop circle) My alternate is a Convair 240 awaiting restoration: _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/Convair+240.jpg.html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/Convair+240.jpg.html) (Canon 30D, 17-40 f/4L, ISO 400) I'm also offering several more pictures taken that afternoon. What I am hoping to show is some of the character of these aircraft without presenting a full-frame aircraft portrait. P-51D (the same aircraft as the main PAW): _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/P-51D+Wee+Willie+II.j pg.html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/P-51D+Wee+Willie+II.jpg.html) (M4, 90mm T-E, 400TX) Pitot Tube - P-26A Peashooter. This is the sole remaining flying example of its type. _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/P-26A+Pitot+Tube.jpg. html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/P-26A+Pitot+Tube.jpg.html) (Canon 30D, 17-40 f/4L, ISO 400) Dive Brakes - SBD Dauntless: _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+ Silverman/Aircraft/SBD+Dive+Brakes.jpg.html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/SBD+Dive+Brakes.jpg.html) (M4, 35mm 'cron, 400TX, orange filter) 50 cal guns - SBD Dauntless: _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/SBD+50+cal.jpg.html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/SBD+50+cal.jpg.html) (M4, 35mm 'cron, 400TX, orange filter) Engine cylinder - Boeing P-12E. Like the P-26, this is also the sole remaining flying example: _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/P-12E+cylinder.jpg.ht ml_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/P-12E+cylinder.jpg.html) (M4, 35mm 'cron, 400TX, orange filter) Finally, this F-100D Super-Sabre, which flew as a target drone from NAS China Lake. It was hit in the tail by a sidewinder missile, and still was able to land relatively intact: _http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/F-100D+Drone+Target.j pg.html_ (http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Ira+Silverman/Aircraft/F-100D+Drone+Target.jpg.html) (Canon 30D, 17-40 f/4L, ISO 400) Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.
