Not that I am a specialist on this, but you'd not be going wrong if
you used Lightroom to off-load your cards, place your files in a
library and convert the RAW to DNG in the process.

Figure how much disk space you will never need and buy two at that
size. Work with external disks. Computers come and go and it is a pain
if you have your data stored on in internal disk. They're good for
booting and storing applications, but they are less than ideal for
storing your data.
