A lovely, thought provoking statement, Ric.

If not necessary,
does not  the drive to express,
even in the bird,
imply at least
a desire for
an audience
of some sort ?

To call out
and receive a response
seems a basic need.

To call out
and receive no response
feels a tad scary.
