I'll join you in grump-ness.  I enjoy seeing pictures taken from the real 
world,
although I lean toward enigmatic and mysterious, or humorous views 
primarily. 
What excites me is knowing that the situation in front of the camera really
existed, and that the photographer had the eye to record it.  I can't stand
super-impositions or collages, or PhotoShop assemblages.  (It's the same with
books; I can't read fiction)  I saw a quote from somewhere that sums up my
position - "If anything is possible, nothing is interesting."
