Some are surprisingly terrific, others less so. I've seen some very impressive modern pictures taken with Summars. The Summar was replaced because of Kodachrome: wide open, it would vignette with Kodachrome (but was fine with black and white--don't ask me why.) The Summitar resolved that problem.
