The best way to win a political argument on the LUG is to post your
pictures. I don't think of people here as left wing or right wing, I think
of them as good photographers, beginning photographers, valuable teachers,
equipment packrats, generous sofa-lenders, experts on Leica lore, resources
for Pizio printing and the like -- what someone's politics are isn't really
worth much on a list about photography. i'm a bit baffled as to how a thread
entitled "1936 Sumicron" turned into a pitched battle and I'm sure it'll be
fodder for some grad student somewhere writing about civility and written
discourse at the beginning of the 21st century (i was ignoring the whole
thing because i don't have a 1936 sumicron) -- but I can say that in my
experience, the best response to:

"Your politics are stupid, you don't know yobbles about how to run a
country, and you never voted for anyone I'd even bother to run over with a
car...." is

"Here are my latest photos of El Capitan, I think I got the light just about
right this time."

because here, you're a photographer, or yer just making noise.

So if anybody's got photos they've taken with their 1936 Summicron, let's
see 'em.

I'm just sayin....
