Funny Ted,

I did a similar thing while on a shoot for BOATING magazine about 8 or
more years ago...it was mid January with record setting low temps here.

I was shooting part of an article, salt water boats in fresh
water/freshwater boats in saltwater. I was doing the salt water/fresh
water part on the Tennessee River down in North Alabama.

Saltwater boats sit up a lot higher in the water than freshwater boats
and also have a railing around them. We first pull up to an island with
an sandy shore and they drop me on the island. I shoot them fishing and
stuff...I climb back in the boat and they say lets go over to the ramp
and shoot some shots of the boat running on the water...the boat drafts
enough they can only get within about 4 feet of the shore so I jump up
over the railing and out to land in about 3 inches of water...the ramp
is VERY slick, by the time I have my balance I am in water up to my
waist. I was cussing and fuming as it was an ambient temp somewhere
right around 0F. I am wet and cold...and almost ruined two EOS1n
cameras and all of my film.

Anyway I look in the boat and the reporter and all of them are doing
their best to not laugh....

We do the shot then I freeze solid on a 3 mile ride across the lake back
to my truck...a three mile ride when you are soaking wet and the
temperature is well below freezing in an open boat going 20 miles an
hour is NO fun. My pants were frozen solid when we got back...I had the
heat in the truck on full blast the whole way home and never got fully
warm...that was a LONG 2.5 hour drive home.
