Thanks for sharing the Istanbul images. I lived their for a brief time when 
I was a kid though I hardly remember anything.

I was intrigued by the many good photos that Bernado showed recently ? and I
was inspired by George L who, once again, provided constructive comments and
meaningful suggestions.



Last September I was spending half a day and a night passing through this
impressive metropolis (13 million inhabitants). For those of you who may not
know, Istanbul is located in Europe as well as in Asia, separated by the
Bosphorus Strait that connects the Black Sea with the Mediterranean Sea.
Every year, some 10,000 crude oil carriers pass through this narrow, busy
waterway but I must admit that I did not spot any tanker while I was
shutting from the European side to the Asian side and back again.



Here are some of my takes on Istanbul - mostly "the wider view":
