Thanks for the compliment, Tom. My Summilux, according to Dennis
Laney "Leica Collector's Guide" is the first version, with serial
number indicating it was built in 1971.
Here's a question for any lens hood experts out there: the 50/1.4
removable lens hood is quite a work of art and built like a tank.
Does anyone know what is the purpose of the lens hood thumbwheel that
is right near the "VII" symbol? Mine just turns, but does not seem to
tighten or affect anything.
