The only drawback is that it drops the max. frame rate to something like 2.5 fps. Nikon Japan has a "Digitutor" page with streaming instructional videos, For the most part they are pretty lame, but the one on the focusing system of the D300 was helpful in showing what Nikon thinks the different settings are for.
