I clock'ed close to 10000 exposures on my 4th R-D1, the previous 3 probably had about 3000 shots. So the R-D1 has served pretty well. (long way for me to reach the rated shutter life). If the M9 is for sale by early 2009, that'd be either if it is "affordable" (ha ha), or drive the M8 price down.
