D3 fits better in my hands, and for my work speed is needed which is why I still use my "old" D2h when I need fast focusing speed. The D300 focusing is much improved over the D200, but still can be slow for action compared to the faster D series. But, then an M8 is affordable (and upgradeable! - try that with a Nikon or Canon ) when I just have a D300 instead of a D3. Yeah, unless it's a D2xs the price dropped really fast.
