it is slightly better with Geoff's suggestion, but I still find it   
"artificial". I understand what you are trying to do, Barney, but  
then I second Philippe's suggestion that you need to get into  
Photoshop in a bigger way and work some more at it.

Or...just conclude that in this case the image as you perceived it  
simply does not translate well into a photograph and move on. That is  
what I would do, since I do not do this kind of Photoshop  
manipulation as a matter of principle (which is a convenient  
principle since I am too lazy to learn how to do it anyway ;-))
