Adam, I've used Aperture 2 for the past week. It is significantly
faster than version 1.5, better raw conversion, new functions that
recover blown out highlights and muddy shadows. Nice new functions of
vignetting and vibrancy. Vibrancy increases saturation without
affecting skin tones. Once you import images into the Aperture
library, they can be accessed amazingly fast. The healing brush now
actually works very well. New raw camera support is provided when you
also install the latest OS X system and graphic software updates.
Part of the appeal of Aperture is the database functions of your
images. When some photo libraries have 5000 or more images, speed is
important for your workflow.

Word of caution: if you download the trial version which is good for
30 days, it will convert your library of images to version 2. Your
library will no longer be be accessible to your former version of
Aperture. This major upgrade is worth the investment of $99. Finally
Apple has begun to catch up with Lightroom on camera raw support.

Happy shooting,

Richard
