The mods had to do with putting a filter inside the optical path to properly match the results of using Tri-X film. There were a lot of meters sold with the Zone sticker, but were not modified internally. Pentax never incorporated the changes. The modifications are still available from Richard Ritter, the in-company techie for Zone VI. The sticker that is available ( that I know about, there may be others) is the a sticker that goes around the output dial to present zones rather than only EV values to figure out zone placement. It is extremely handy to have. Yes, they are very useful for photography, regardless of Digital or Film.
