Subject: [Leica] Phishing?
From: pklein at 2alpha.net (Peter Klein)

Folks: I just received an email from someone claiming to be from a
calendar company in Poland who wants to use some of my photos. But no
company name is mentioned, nor any specific photos.

It doesn't smell right. I am 99.44% sure that this is simply a phishing
attempt, and I'm inclined to ignore it. But just on the offchance that it
is real, has anyone else heard of this person? The email was from
"Ma'gorzata Mitrega," gosia at ateko.pl" The "e" in Mitrega had a
circumflex accent, which I don't believe is part of the Polish alphabet.
Here's the email:

Dear Sir,
we are a calendar producer from Poland. We would like to purchase some of
your images for our calendars. Please inform us, if we can do this. If
yes, pleas let us know, how ?
We would also like to know, what are the coasts for this.

  best regards

  Magorzata Mitrga

The email was preceded, an hour before, by a request to photo.net for my
email address. While I read and very occasionally post a comment on
photo.net, I do not use their image hosting. In the past, I probably
posted a few links to my personal site or the LUG gallery.

Has anyone else on the LUG encountered this?
