Natchitoches is one hour away from Shreveport and about 50 minutes from Alexandria's Airport. Both have national connections. A few of you (Datona, Las Vegas and Orlando,) could get the really cheap rates from Allegiant Air, some as low as $50 one way. Best weather times to visit are in the Fall and Spring. We dress up for Christmas, and that lasts for the five weekends before the 25th. Hotel and Bed and Breakfast rooms are pretty tight, especially the first weekend of December when about 100,000 people visit us for the Christmas Fest. There are plenty places for meetings, and several restaurants can make group rooms available. The Reading room here at the Cammie G. Henry Research Center handles about sixty people for programs, and we could show off our photography collection. One issue of course, is travel from the airports. Rental car is about it as there's no limo service that regularly comes here. I'll poke about for possible solutions if we get serious. Richard talked about Carnival weekend. There's a small parade here then, but I go to New Orleans from Saturday until Wednesday every year for Mardi Gras. ;-) My pal Nick is out of town today, but I'll get with him tomorrow for more ideas. -- Regards, Sonny http://www.sonc.com Natchitoches, Louisiana USA
