However, the algorithms have dramatically improved to take the really raw data from the digital sensor and apply it to a file. The only way to get that to happen in the film world is to scan the negs and then apply the same algorithms to the output of eh scanner.....The scanner is the weak link, and another layer of obfuscation to apply and fiddle with..... and lose on. The great printers of the present and past, when on their mark, and printing optical images from negatives, will still show film as superior to an all digital system. How many of them are still around, working, and what are their costs? Rare commodities...... Back to what I said..... Practically speaking, digital is superior..... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net I don't think I have seen a single fact which supports any of the statements you made here, though you are not the only one who has stated them. A few lenses can reach the limit of current digital sensors, most can not, so any theoretical benefit film may show (only slow B&W in fact) is entirely theoretical and rarely realised in practical photography.
