On my recent trip, I used a 35 f2.5 summarit. Small compact and also wonderful images. Nocti's will eat at you. This group will have you spending money you never knew you had!!!! A second hand Nocti is a great investment. I could sell mine now for as much as I paid: more than I can say for many of the shares I "shed" recently ;-) I doubt I will get a new version. I love the way the old one cuts the image to the film/sensor: its a lens like no other in my and Helen's opinion. Date: Fri, 7 Nov 2008 01:35:59 +0900 Thanks for the advice, guys! Thanks to H. Ball Arche! I think it's easy for a first-timer with no instruction manual to load the film spool upside-down, which results in the non emulsion side facing the lens. The film leader runs straight at the top of the film, as it should be loaded properly, but on the bottom side, it curves inward, thus making the leader narrower than the rest of the film. Were you to load the film upside down, the curved part will be facing up, as the camera rests on your lap. Like this, the film can still be wound on, and unless you knew better, you'd think, as I did, that you were taking photographs. Well, now I know. Thanks to Didier and Alistair! I'd rather not use a flash, and I'm thinking of which faster lens I'd like to complement my 50 f/2. The 35mm 1.2 Nokton looks a good candidate, bit bulky, great value for money, is that so? The other candidate would be the Summilux 35 1.4 ASPH. Or maybe the new Voigtlander 35 1.4. I'd buy used and would rather spend a bit extra to save trading up in future. But I'm not rich. I think the Nocti might be too expensive and besides, I like the small size and light weight of my Cron 50 2. I accept that using flash at the dance event was not very satisfying and too conspicous, but I actually like to see the reactions on the faces of the crowd there. Flashless and shot wide-open on a fast lens would also have the benefit of giving a more three dimensional look, though, and that is very valuable. Maybe I should get a fast 35. Any ideas?
