So apparently is quite recent and has nothing to do whatsoever with 
invasions or the Tudor period dams.
I knew about high and low (nether) languages, just like you also have 
"hoch Deutch" (and not Dutch)
I think Voltaire refers to them too.
Anyone knows if there is still a difference in the country or is the 
laguage now one?
