Kind of like saving leftover nuts and bolts. The day comes when you have
hundreds that don't fit instead of needing one to fit.

I also liked gels in the news / documentary movie business.  Those cameras
have a slot behind the lens that fitted a gel holder.  You could build your
own.  ND 3, 85,
