Friday night I covered a reception and award ceremony where the low light caused me much frustration. Because of the nature of the event and the layout of the site, I had to use flash on camera, which I hate. The camera had a hard time getting focus, so I'd get soft shots or the wrong moment because of the time the camera took to lock on. (I thought the infra red emitter in the flash was supposed to help in these situations-it didn't seem to). It was too dark to even try to manually focus with the AF screen. I used to shoot events like this with my M's and I could nail the proper focus every time.
