Those with Canons can have a smaller/cheaper body, but with Leica's they are a bit on the exy side to justify 2 bods. This is the reason we decided to use HElen's older Olympus as a back up for me and the DMR on our recent trip. She was using one camera for tele and one for wide: great idea and my one camera body set up was not really ideal. I would have loved to have another DMR, and I hope the R10 comes out so I can use the DMR as a back up. I do carry the film back with the DMR so a "real" alternative to a second M8 would be a film M. Some will use a smaller digital ps as a back up, but of course you cannot use the lenes and have to lug the dead leica for the rest of the trip. I had to lug the dead 70 - 180 mm vario on this trip when it set itself to f22 and stayed there :-( Cheers --- sonc.hegr@gmail.com wrote: From: "Sonny Carter" <sonc.hegr@gmail.com> To: "Leica Users Group" <lug@leica-users.org> Subject: Re: [Leica] RD-1 (AGAIN) or G1? Date: Thu, 11 Dec 2008 15:04:56 -0600 I've pretty much stopped worrying. I carry the M8, two extra batteries, and a spare SD card. No other backup.
