Depends partly on how much you value your time, too. The drum
scanners are going to take at least 10x as long to scan a 35mm slide
or negative. On the other hand, if you want to scan everything only
once and have the very best scan possible, it would be worth it to
spend the extra time and money with a drum scanner. I'm conflicted
myself but am using the Nikon LS5000 now and am pretty satisfied with
my results. I'm afraid to look at how much better a drum scan might be ;-)
