Thanks, that is certainly one of the problems I had in making this image. 
The Miro was a silly comment I suppose, but in colour the penguin guano 
makes the snow pinkish and it reminded me of a poster my mother had on her 
wall. It is easier to see on a larger image, but I think the overall effect 
is confusing, and yes I was after a graphic image with this one rather than 
a "wildlife" image, but perhaps the presence of the critters makes that hard.

I think you originally posted it as being like a Miro painting. When I first
looked I thought 'Nah, not a Miro', and didn't look any further. Looking at
it again I'd say it suffers from lack of detail, and lack of focus (for want
of a better word). In other words, it's not clear where we should be looking
because there's so much going on. On the one hand there are the major
structures of the 3 outcrops - one of which is cropped, so it doesn't really
satisfy one's expectations; on the other hand, there are the penguins. They
are too small to get any real detail, but they fight against the composition
of the outcrops. So, yes - too messy and confusing about sums it up. It's
interesting, but it seems to fall between two stools, wanting to be abstract
and geometrical, but also wanting to be a nature shot.
