Usually the first one. If it pans out I read more of them. If I have something to add I do so. Sometimes I arrange the list so its by people. Certain people I'm prone to read what they say and they'll get me interested in a thread I'd otherwise not have read or responded to. You can't do any of this with a digest. A digest is not away to be at all involved with a list IMO. One thing I don't often do is come on a list and criticize the whole thing for not being what I want them to be; for not living up to my expectations like they're on this planet to entertain me. I get around doing.
