In the olden days, when we used film in TV news, we often shot 35mm "portraits" of notables with plain backgrounds to be used when we didn't have relevant footage for a story. Not everyone does photograph "well" In some cases they captured the essence of the personality, and in some they missed the mark, maybe. I am only familiar with a few of these people.
