Richard Lorenz does a superb job of creating an environmental life portrait of this most remarkable photographer. Extensively researched; he uses notes, figures and plates, better than most, to create a remarkable sense of her life, times peers. I've had this book for years. Have looked at the plates many times. Yet, finally reading this beautiful text, has opened my eyes to her work in totally new ways.
