Made perfect sense to me as well.
Enjoying my 63rd year;
also mindful of experiencing each moment;
with cats in lap every evening;
music when appropriate;
journaling with fine old fountain pens;
drawing;
photographing (at times with 50 year old instruments);
blogging;
grandfathering;
loving;
reading;

why would this noting
of sensual pleasures
as an antidote
to "bitter old man" syndrome = nonsense?
