It is light, inexpensive, takes my M lenses and is not dependent on battery power (except for light metering). In other words, a bit like an M6 but a lot cheaper. My M8 has functioned flawlessly since I bought it, so I have not really had to use the Bessa for backup. I did shoot a roll of film in it during January and February, just to test the backup.
