The field of the 90mm without the close-up goggles is about the same as the DR with goggles. You can see the comparison here. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/LeonardT/CloseFocus/> I use the lens almost exclusively for close-up work when taking flower photos at a flower show or browsing at Longwood Gardens. In most cases it is the only lens I use on the M8 in those cases and mostly without the goggles even though I take them with me.
