[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]i looked up phoenix where i lived for a while in the late 80s-early 90s. i thought it was a great city, beautiful, clean, and full of friendly people and beautiful photographic opportunities. car theft was high even then (my car was broken into twice in the same 6 month period), and because of this insurance was as expensive as in new york. this was a real surprise to me. but i am shocked to see murder 224% of the national average. i saw in a piece on foxnews that gangs from mexico are kidnapping and even beheading people in phx. (don't know how sensationalized that angle is). when i was there, i didn't think phoenix had that level of a violence problem, though i beleive it was a problem in tucson. compare this with new york city, where murder is 96% of the national average, and all property crimes are 1/2 the national average. when i grew up, new york was pretty much like the new york of "the out-of-towners" but it's astonishingly reformed since giuliani. -rei On Mar30 11:29, Phil Swango wrote: > Tina wrote:But you can read that about any city, anywhere.
