The removed pictures aren't "bad" and if prom04.jpg were balanced back to daylight, they could stand in their own portfolio and would also work as a story. I once read "The difference between amateurs and professionals is that amateurs show you all of their pictures" which is true to some extent, because a pro may not be a better photographer but may be more ruthless in their editing, in this case the whole selection works but is better when split in two.
