They must be very small raccoons, as the ones around here snack on 
any cats in singles and multiples. A while ago a neighbour ran over a 
large raccoon, weighed him and found him to have been a little over 
30lbs. German shepherds would do well to stay away from a raccoon 
family, and usually do.
