This week definitely fell into that category. Then, there was a strange confluence of events which gave me the urge to make images: first, I got rid of my darkroom. Apart from retaining the capability of developing sheet and roll film, I'm now completely digital. Second, I finished reading 'Annie Liebovitz at Work', which got me thinking about lighting. Third, I had to take my mind of the disappointment I felt after having to return my new 18mm Super-Elmar because it wouldn't focus. To get rid of the darkroom was a wrench, but to have a faulty example of the lens that was financed in part by selling of the darkroom equipment was almost too much for my simple little mind! I was taken by the lighting of some of the portraits in Liebovitz's book. An idea then formed - the subject being "cutting edge". Use the same simple, available lighting technique and take some pictures of some of the tools in the garage. Anyway - enough rambling on...to the image... This is taken with a Canon 20D and 100mm Macro lens and post-processed in Lightroom. http://www.monomagic.co.uk/gallery.php?gallery=paw/2009&image=2009-week29-1.jpg I hope you enjoy it. Comments and critique welcome as always.
