Steve,

I don't know with the 1,40x, I own the 1,25x.

You can't see the whole field, more or less you loss a frame, i.e.  
with a VF 0,72x you can see the 35mm frame but not the 28mm, mine is  
sharp and clear but a slight of brightness is loss.

I use it very few, if every time you change the lens you should take  
of this not very comfortable for me
