In fact, that's all I use, except for the 45P Nikkor which finds its way on the camera now and then. I chose the D700 over an M8. It was a coin toss decision. I think I'd have been happy either way. I couldn't justify both. I thought the D700 would be more versatile. It is, but turns out I rarely use zooms and long lenses. With Leica primes the D700 isn't cumbersome. At least, not like it is with a 17-35/2.8 zoom. I've discovered that it's not the camera so much as what you put on the camera. With a D3, it may be the camera too. I took some Autumn landscapes recently. I used a tripod with live view focusing. R lenses really are special. You'll never see it on a web image, or small enlargement. But when you explore an image at full resolution there's a certain wow factor. I'm not a big fan of Nikon Capture NX2, but it does a bang up job of converting RAW files. I want to shoot JPEG but I keep going back to RAW. Nikon has come a long way in a few years. My D100 took a while to digest after with 3 exposures in short succession. And the waiting time for processing compressed RAW was long. You can't feed the D700 fast enough. I'm a methodical shooter so it's not something I really need. But it's there if I need it. I'm still waiting for the perfect camera or unlimited financial resources. Again, I'd take either and be happy. :-) Dave R -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+drodgers=casefarms.com at leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+drodgers=casefarms.com at leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Mark Rabiner Sent: Tuesday, November 10, 2009 12:41 AM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] You can't kick around the Nikon D3 anymore..... > According to the B+H Site, the Nikon D3 has been discontinued.
