History does not matter in the marketplace, only what you can do for your customers now. At least the name had some commercial value to it, so just be happy that whoever went bankrupt with the company was able to recover at least something. I for one applaud Cosina's product line--I do not like all their stuff, but their line of good quality, low cost rangefinders and lenses provided an entry into the rangefinder (and hence possibly Leica) world for many, and expanded the possible universe for those of us who already own Leica bodies. My 1.2/35mm Cosina/Voigtl?nder is superb, and particularly at 1.2 it beats the Summilux hands down ;-) Nathan Nathan Wajsman Alicante, Spain http://www.frozenlight.eu http://www.greatpix.eu http://www.nathanfoto.com Books: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/search?search=wajsman&x=0&y=0 PICTURE OF THE WEEK: http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws Blog: http://www.fotocycle.dk/blog On Nov 11, 2009, at 2:30 AM, Mark Rabiner wrote: >> Does it say Nikon or Canon China on the boxes of some of their DSLRs >> and lenses? - I don't think so. >> The box of my Canon EF-S 60mm Macro shows CANON INC. in large bold caps >> and below it a shy and retiring, very tiny, light grey, lower case "Made >> in Taiwan". >> Does that make it less of a Canon lens? >> D. > > > The end of your post here is a reminder that it doesn't say NIKON JAPAN or > CANON JAPAN and then you open up the box and its made in Thailand on the > rim > of the lens. > The reason might be that that would be an obvious deception and such a > thing > is best avoided. > Their marketing and design people seem to think that lying is a thing best > avoided. > > > Mark William Rabiner > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information >
