If I were you I'd drive down Big Sur and walk up to Nepenthe Restaurant. The view south from up there is fabulous. And you stand a chance to be above the clouds. If you leave Palo Alto at 5:00 you should get first light. But honestly the light a little later when it starts to go above the mist (IF there is any; no guarantees) is best. I'd leave around 6. This is a very small beach on the coast of San Mateo County, just south of Half Moon Bay (and south of Pescadero for those familiar with the area). I happened to hit it at about 2 hours into a rising tide, so the waves were coming in. The thing about this beach is there is no sand. There are only these small, beautifully colored pebbles and beautiful outcrops of rocks. No one knows why these pebbles appear, and sometimes disappear. I was knocked out with the place and must go back often. http://raflexions.com/CACoastII/content/Pebble_Beach_002_Flex_large.html C&C always welcome and appreciated, -- // richard m: richard @imagecraft.com // w: http://www.imagecraft.com/pub/Portfolio09/ blog: http://rfman.wordpress.com // book: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/745963 _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
